If you are going to give your products the name ‘Number One’ – then surely it has to be special. According to Dell – that is exactly what the Dell XPS One is. The ‘all in one’ design of Dell’s latest model has critics crowing on both sides of the Atlantic, and with some reason too.
The XPS One is different to the standard Dell computer, built with the ethic of minimalism and the conservation of space firmly in mind. At just over 16” in height, it is clear that the XPS is unobtrusive and compact: it will fit onto almost any table or desk without fuss. It is connected using just one single power source.
The system itself, however, is bursting with potential on the inside. There is a formidable sound set up – including integrated left/right speakers that carry the type of sound quality that you would usually associate with an expensive Hi-Fi. With the lights dimmed, you wouldn’t even know the difference.
This is augmented with the typical selection of twenty first century gadgetry: integrated WiFi, BluRay disc drivers and super fast and smooth DVD players. Around the edge of the monitor are set a multitude of USB ports and connections for further plug-ins. No more fiddling around at the back of the computer will ever be required.
So, the XPS One gets our thumbs up. Happily it proves that despite the success of its more conventional system – Dell is still quite happy to experiment and innovate.
